Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition

The Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition is a network of Jewish community organizations who recognize the urgency of climate change and commit to taking action.

No matter where you are on your climate action journey we provide community, gentle accountability, and resources to support meaningful climate action.

hands coming together in the shape of a heart

Membership is FREE and participation is simple.

  1. Designate 1-2 staff liaisons to lead your climate action work; and
  2. Fill in, submit, and implement an organizational Climate Action Plan (CAP) annually.

CAPs detail climate actions taken to date and set goals for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the coming year. We’ve made the process simple with a specialized, user-friendly CAP webform that provides a menu of actions to take. There are no minimum requirements for CAPs, or penalties for falling short on your goals.

Dream big; we’re here to support you to succeed.

Coalition members are eligible to apply for interest-free loans of up to $100,000 and matching grants of up to $10,000 to fund projects that source clean electricity, increase electrification, or enhance energy efficiency.

Twenty major umbrella Jewish organizations signed a founding statement to launch the Coalition, demonstrating broad consensus that the Jewish community is ready and capable of taking collective climate action. These organizations are mobilizing and supporting their networks (e.g., synagogues, day schools, JCCs, Hillels, Federations, camps, agencies, etc.) to take climate action.

“This grant [from Adamah] has allowed us to dream bigger… We initially planned to execute an LED overhaul over a number of years, but learned that the energy and cost savings were too great to hold off. The new LEDs look clean and professional, and give us substantial savings to our bottom line.”

“As the President of a synagogue, there are few times that a single decision can have such a profound positive impact in so many different ways. Our rooftop solar installation is such an example, contributing to the health of the environment, expanding opportunities for learning, and reducing our long-term cost of electricity to near zero…”

“The Climate Action Plan is created in a way that is so easy to approach, digest, and understand! It’s not as scary or intimidating as I feared it may be – you’ve broken each piece down into actionable and clearly explained segments for the average individual to be able to engage with in a way that makes sense, can help folks evaluate and plan, and achieve their goals – and for that I’m so grateful!!”

“[Working with Adamah’s Climate Action staff] was so reassuring and validating. It was a great reminder that climate action is critical, and it can be interwoven into things we’re already committed to doing. This was very helpful.”

“I believe the key to a good design is that users, from novice to experienced, can learn, track progress, and make a difference. Adamah has built the platform, and getting on board is up to us all. “

Who can join the Coalition?
This sounds great! Can I join at any time? When do we start?
What does a Climate Action Plan look like?
When is my Climate Action Plan due? Why are Climate Action Plans due just before Tu B’Shvat?
How long is membership in the Coalition?
What is the anticipated time commitment for Coalition members?
Is there a cost to join the Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition?
Will there be funding available to support climate action work?
How can my organization set itself up for success?
My organization does not own (or even use!) a building. Can we still join the Coalition?
Ahh! I am excited and overwhelmed; inspired and daunted! Can you help me?
